Type Locality and Naming

Named after the village of Sulyukta, Fergana Valley. O.S. Vyalov, 1945 (153, p.125). Stratotype in the area of the village of Sulyukta. Initially identified as "Sulyuktinskaya sandstones", upper part of the " k " horizon of K.P. Kalitsky's scheme (213).

Synonym: Sulyuktinskaya Suite, Сулюктинская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Grey, light-grey, white, quartz-feldspar sandstones with interlayers of limestones. Thickness up to 53m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Overlies the limestones of the Bukhara Fm

Upper contact

It is conformably overlain by the Suzak Fm and Alay Fm

Regional extent

S., S.-W., E. Fergana.
